Hey there, lovebirds!  If you're feeling a little nervous about your upcoming wedding ceremony, you're not alone. Every couple experiences some pre-wedding jitters.  As a Sunshine Coast Celebrant with 17 years of experience, I’m here to make sure you feel calm, confident, and fully present on your big day so you can overcome those wedding day nerves. Here are some of my tricks to help you enjoy every single moment, grinning from ear to ear as you say, “I do”!

A stress-free wedding starts with preparation

One of the best ways to ease your pre-wedding nerves is to feel completely prepared.

Kick off your planning process by choosing wedding vendors who truly align with you. These are the people who will guide and support you throughout the entire process, ensuring you feel taken care of, heard, understood, and completely at ease. When you have a team that genuinely connects with you, it makes all the difference, helping you feel calm, relaxed and confident that your wedding day will unfold seamlessly.

Equally important is selecting vendors who have worked together before and who will collaborate as a team to fully support you. When your celebrant, photographer, planner, and other key vendors already have a great working relationship, everything flows smoothly. They know how to communicate, coordinate and complement each other’s work, ensuring that your day runs effortlessly from start to finish.

From our very first Zoom call, as your Celebrant, I focus on building that connection with you and your vendors. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to understand you as a couple, and to enhance our chat online, I’ll send you a personalised online questionnaire to dive deeper into your story. I want to know how you met, what you love most about each other, and all the little details that make your relationship one-of-a-kind. This gives me everything I need to write a ceremony that is anything but cookie-cutter, one that feels natural, fun, and deeply meaningful for you.

When you choose vendors who truly get you, everything falls into place. By the time your wedding day arrives, we’ll have built such a strong connection that standing in front of your loved ones will feel effortless. You’ll have complete peace of mind, knowing your ceremony is in safe hands. This allows you to be fully present, to relax, and to soak in every beautiful moment.

Feeling completely prepared is one of the best ways to ease those pre-wedding nerves. Together, we'll create a ceremony that feels authentically you, ensuring a seamless and stress-free lead-up to your big day.

Keeping you relaxed on your wedding day

On the day of your wedding, I’ll be right there to offer endless support, guidance and reassurance.  Here’s how I help you stay cool, calm, and collected:

  • A warm and welcoming atmosphere – From the moment your guests arrive, I ensure they feel part of something special, setting the tone for a joy-filled and relaxed wedding ceremony.

  • Creating a calm energy – I bring a sense of warmth, calm and confidence to your ceremony, ensuring both you and your guests feel at ease before, during and after you say, “I do” with gentle leadership and guidance throughout.

  • Laughter is the best relaxer – A little humour goes a long way!  I love sprinkling in light-hearted moments to ease everyone’s nerves and bring smiles all around.  Joy and laughter create a relaxed atmosphere where you can be fully present and enjoy the moment.

Overcoming wedding day nerves about public speaking

Are you worried about being the centre of attention when you share your wedding vows?  Are you nervous about speaking in front of all your family and friends?  Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered!  Here are some tips to help you feel comfortable when it’s time to share your wedding promises on that microphone:

  • Be familiar with your vows, but don’t memorise them – Read them out loud a few times before your wedding ceremony, but don’t put pressure on yourself to memorise every word.

  • Visualise success – The night before, picture yourself standing confidently, speaking from the heart and enjoying the moment.

  • Take deep breaths – Pause when you need to, take a breath and let the words flow naturally.

  • Focus on each other – Forget about your guests for a moment and simply speak to your partner, just as you would in a private moment.

  • Let the emotions come – Tears?  Laughter?  All welcome!  I’ll have tissues on hand and trust me, most of us will be shedding happy tears right along with you…especially when the Groom cries!

  • Remember, your guests are on your side – Your family and friends are there to celebrate your love, not to critique your speech.  Let their happiness and support uplift you.
