Laid-back beachside wedding in Warana, Sunshine Coast

Emily and Adam are super bubbly and easy going and their excitement for their low-key beachside wedding day was contagious.

I was buzzing with anticipation to start writing their light-hearted ceremony which was to include their three young daughters, Mia, Olivia and Milla.

We clicked as soon as we met for coffee at Montana’s in Buderim.  Our conversation flowed so easily and I felt I’d known them forever.  The only time we stopped talking was to take a sip of our coffees!

As soon as we met, hugs were exchanged and their warmth was obvious.  What a dream couple to marry! Keep reading to hear their funny love story…

A dream couple to marry, full of love and laughter!

Emily once made it very clear to her close circle of friends that she was absolutely done with dating.  However, little did she know, that a simple trip to the gym with her gym buddy, Shannon one Friday morning would change the course of her life.

Meanwhile, Adam was living the dream in his bachelor pad and patiently waiting for his princess to arrive.

As in the case of a classic “Sliding Doors” moment, a standard gym session would turn into a giddy, butterflies in the tummy moment when gorgeous Emily found herself in Adam’s line of sight.  How convenient that he happened to share a mutual friend with this stunning princess!

So while Adam was chatting to Emily’s friend, Emily couldn’t help but stare right back at him, wondering “okay okay… you’re alright, who are you?…”.  The only words spoken between our lovebirds that morning was “It’s all about balance”, with reference to exercise and alcohol, of course.  Nothing incredibly exciting, but that’s all it took to connect them and change their lives!

Before they knew it, they were catching up for a quick coffee at Bok Beach Cafe five days later.  As excited as she was, Emily casually threw on some active wear with great plans to hit the gym shortly after.

But then Adam rocked up as handsome as ever in his smart work attire, making Emily’s knees quiver as we all know she’s a sucker for a businessman.  Their easy-going conversation flowed naturally and their brief coffee date quickly escalated into a three-hour chat session with a lot of sunburn…

That’s all it took for these two to realise that they shared something pretty darn special, just three hours at the beach together.  From that moment, they just couldn’t stop thinking about each other and couldn’t wait to see each other again.

And they didn’t have to wait long…

A magical weekend together confirmed that they were a perfect match.  It only felt right that they should introduce their gorgeous girls, Milla, Mia and Olivia to each other.  This new family blended beautifully over fish and chips and ice-cream to celebrant Adam’s birthday.  The rest as they say is history!

Their vision of a relaxed beachside wedding came to fruition without a hitch!

Emily is so laid back that she loves to leave everything to the last minute.  With a “she’ll be right” attitude, she beams her bright smile doing her best to assure you that she will have everything ready just in the nick of time for their wedding day.

Adam, on the other hand, is meticulously organised, proactive and likes to tick off everything on the list weeks before their big day.  He often needs to give Emily a little kick in the butt to get moving and arrange things.

This is the glue that melts these two great friends together.

While they share a love of going to the gym, it’s their cute differences which makes magic happen between these two perfectly matched souls, who tied the knot at Emily’s beautiful beach-side family home in Warana on the Sunshine Coast.

Giddy with giggles, Emily couldn’t contain her happiness…

Emily’s parent’s beach house was the picture-perfect setting for their laid-back style wedding.  Emily holds so many fold memories of her life there, and being a stone’s throw away from the beach, we could hear the waves crashing nearby which added a soothing coastal ambiance.

Emily and Adam envisioned a relaxed and private party with their closest family and friends to celebrate their marriage, an understated affair but an affair to remember, with vibrant tunes, flowing champagne, plenty of laughter and dancing well into the night.

So relaxed in fact, that Adam wore no shoes!  Even their neighbours attended, for they had watched Emily grow up from a very young age, which was so sweet.  It was fun chatting with them and hearing their adorable stories of young Emily growing up.

Giant Jenga, Connect 4 and other fun lawn games dotted the backyard and throughout the beautifully manicured beach themed gardens for everyone to have good old fashioned fun to celebrate their marriage.

Being grounded was key for this chilled out couple…

As their Celebrant, I thought it was imperative that we include their beautiful little daughters, Mia, Milla and Olivia as much as possible.  Not only did we incorporate the blending of different coloured sands to symbolise the unity of their strong family connection, I also suggested that we decide who was going to say their vows first by asking Mia to flip a coin.

This provided the guests with plenty of laughs, especially when Mia had to toss the coin not once, but three times as the first two tosses saw the coin almost flipped into the neighbour’s yard!

Adorable Olivia and Milla then presented their Mum and Dad with their wedding rings for the ring exchange and also proudly gave the vow booklets to their parents when it was time to make lifelong promises.

Their three daughters stole the show as they walked down the aisle wearing pretty dresses and huge smiles!

And my favourite part of this ceremony?  It’s tough to choose just one…  I’m smiling to myself as I remember Mia flipping the coin with so much excitement that the coin almost hit me in the eye!  And then there’s the adorable moment where Emily and Adam had to put their parental hats on to ensure the sand blending rolled out smoothly.  The switch from cute couple getting hitched to assertive parents and then back to cute couple was quite funny!

Congratulations lovebirds and thank you for the fun and honour of being your Celebrant!
